UTS:INSEARCH has revised the course content of the Diploma of Communication in order to align with changes recently made to the UTS Bachelor of Communication.

What are the improvements to the Diploma of Communication？

As a result of the improvements, students will undertake fewer subjects but still receive the same 48 credit points towards their UTS degree.

▫The Standard (3 semester) and Accelerated (2 semester) diploma modes have been reduced from seven to six subjects.

▫The Extended (4 semester) diploma mode has been reduced from ten to nine subjects.

What are the benefits？

The change in subjects does not impact credit points. Instead, students will be doing one less subject, allowing for more study time. This new study load is equivalent to the first year of the UTS Bachelor of Communication.

The benefits also allow students to choose their major (either Public Relations or Digital and Social Media) and also one subject of the second major. This is close to what a first year UTS student in the Bachelor of Communication studies;
Students will study two FIRST major subjects from either Public Relations or Digital and Social Media as a first choice and one SECOND major subject from the stream which is not their first choice.

When will these improvements take place?

The Diploma of Communication improvements will come into effect from Semester 3, 2016.

Will the fees change due to the new improvements to the Diploma of Communication?

The overall diploma course fees have not changed, however due to the reduction in the number of units of study,the price of each unit has increased.

What if students have already paid their fees for Semester 3, 2016?
如果学生已经支付了2016年第3学期的费用，怎么办？
If a student has already paid the first semester fee for the Extended diploma mode starting in October 2016, they willneed to pay the difference in fees before the Census date. Their admissions team will be in contact to arrange this.

If a student has already accepted their offer and paid their fees for the Accelerated or Standard diploma modes,they will not be affected.
