Changes to the Diploma of Business
Students commencing the Diploma of Business in 2016 are now required to complete just 8 subjects (instead of 9) for the Standard and Accelerated diploma and 11 subjects for the Extended diploma (instead of 12).
However, the number of credit points awarded will remain the same at 48.
The changes will come into effect from semester one 2016.

Why has this change occurred?
All UTS INSEARCH Diploma subjects are designed in collaboration with UTS, and as a result of the redesigned business program the subjects have slightly changed. The key change is the subject Academic and Business Communication, which now will provide students with 12 credit points of RPL (recognition of prior learning).
The advantages for students:
• the subject Academic and Business Communication equips students with the fundamental academic literacy skills needed in the subjects of Economics and Accounting as part of the first stage of the Diploma of Business.
• a study load equal to direct entry UTS Bachelor of Business first year students.

What subject was removed from the Diploma of Business?
We have merged Economics for Business 1 & 2 into a single subject.

Does this change the total cost of the course?
All UTS:INSEARCH courses are the same price whether they are Accelerated, Standard or Extended.

Does this affect the semester fees?
The total cost of the course is the same, but there is a change to the configuration of the semester payments.
The new Semester 1 payment is:
• Accelerated Diploma of Business - 14,000
• Standard Diploma of Business -10,500
• Extended Diploma of Business - 9,409.05
Students who are commencing Standard or Extended Diploma of Business in semester one and have already paid, will have outstanding fees as follows:
• Standard Diploma of Business -1,166.67
• Extended Diploma of Busines - $784.05
These students will need to pay outstanding fees by Census - 15 April 2016.

Does this affect articulation to UTS?
The existing policy of no more than two subject fails still remains in order to articulate to UTS.
